Vicem Yachts in Turkey has been building boats since 1991. Its Classic line draws on the styling of the models that first caught the world’s attention, but adds contemporary design cues and modern interiors.

This customized hull of the Vicem 65 Classic—Hull No. 1, recently delivered to an American owner—shows just how well the builder can blend heritage and modernity.

“Owners can customize their Vicem 65 Classic to their own exacting needs and tastes,” Noelle Semmes, Vicem Yachts’ director of sales, stated in a press release. “It’s something that we don’t just do as an exception, but as standard, and it’s extremely rare at this size point.”

As some examples, Vicem buyers can choose an atrium galley, a galley up or a galley aft that’s open to the cockpit. Stateroom configurations can include full-beam masters, twin masters or bunk rooms with hidden Pullman berths.

On this Vicem 65 Classic, the owner went with single-pane side windows for uninterrupted views of the outdoors. The after portion of the salon has an L-shaped sofa and that converts into a double berth for guests (meaning a total of four double berths on board).

At the forward end of the salon is a galley opposite the helm, so the owner and guests can converse at all times. The galley has a four-burner cooktop with a microwave underneath, a dishwasher, an ice maker, a fridge and a wine chiller.

Down on the accommodations deck, there’s a lower salon. The VIP is forward, and the guest stateroom’s twin berths convert to a double. The master is a full-beam amidships affair with an open double-sink area that makes the space feel like a contemporary loft apartment.

There’s also a sizable crew cabin abaft the engine room, with a crew head, in a setup that’s similar to what’s more commonly seen aboard larger yachts.

Out on deck is where guests will spend most of their time, including in the cockpit with an L-shaped settee and a custom high-low table for dining, coffee or cocktails. A sink, fridge and grill make barbecuing an option. Forward, the foredeck has four sun pads.

“This latest addition to our classic range really demonstrates both what we can do and what we can offer, even at 21 meters,” Semmes stated in the release. “The first 65 Classic we have just delivered is the epitome of what draws owners from all over the world to Vicem.”

Are any more Vicem 65 Classic hulls under construction? Yes. According to the shipyard, two more hulls are already being built, “each with a custom interior that makes them unique.”
