Sunseeker says it is making final preparations for the world debut of the Predator 55 at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
The Sunseeker Predator 55 is expected to be one of nine models as large as 100 feet on display from the builder at the show. Others will include the Superhawk 55, Manhattan 55, Manhattan 68, 75 Sport Yacht, 76 Yacht, 88 Yacht, 90 Ocean and 100 Yacht.
As for the Predator 55, it will be the smallest of three models in the Predator line, which also includes a 65 and a 75. The shipyard says the 55’s curved silhouette and sloping hardtop design are intended to distinguish it from competing 55-foot yachts, giving it a fresh style in keeping with the other Predator models and the overall Sunseeker brand.
“Rooted in performance, the Predator 55 is a thoroughbred Sunseeker,” Andrea Frabetti, CEO at Sunseeker International, stated in a press release. “The launch of this fun yacht is a significant milestone for our brand.”
Sunseeker’s Predator models have always included a strong performance component. One of their key selling points is that they’re built to blow the skipper’s hair back. The 55 is no different in this respect. Power is a pair of 1,450-horsepower Volvo Penta IPS950 engines, which Sunseeker says produce speeds up to 36 knots.
Notable features and amenities on the Sunseeker Predator 55 include retractable glazing and a carbon fiber sunroof, allowing for control of the natural lighting and fresh air that guests experience inside. There’s an integrated tender garage that’s sized to stow a Williams TurboJet 325, and a hydraulic swim platform and a sun pad are aft for water-sports fun. Retractable doors connect the cockpit and galley, creating an indoor-outdoor relaxation area for the owner and guests alike.
At the foredeck, there’s additional seating and a sun pad with integrated stowage. Sunseeker also included a carbon fiber shade for sun protection.
Owners can specify an optional gyrostabilizer to reduce rolling at anchor, and interiors can be customized—including relocating the main-deck galley to the lower deck, creating a larger main-deck entertainment space.
Belowdecks, accommodations can be for as many as six people.
What company did Sunseeker work with on interior fabrics and finishes? Design Unlimited played this role with the Predator 55. The idea is to allow for color schemes and materials that match each yacht owner’s preferences.
