Ferretti Yachts has launched Hull No. 1 of its 940, a widebody design that’s expected to remain in Italian waters.

Length overall on the Ferretti Yachts 940 is 95 feet, 1 inch, with a beam of 22 feet, 3 inches. The interior volume allows for a five-stateroom layout including a main-deck master, along with sole-to-ceiling glazing for wide views out over the water.

The cockpit on Hull No. 1 has freestanding furniture and a glass parapet, which is also a feature of Ferretti Yachts 1000. Sliding glass doors lead from here to the salon, which spans nearly 325 square feet and is styled in Ferretti’s Classic scheme of warm, earthy elements. An L-shaped sofa faces a stowage unit and a sliding TV, and there’s a dining table for eight people. Forward of the galley, a companionway leads to a raised pilothouse with a single-piece windscreen.

Forward on the main deck is the owner’s suite, which spans the full beam. The owner chose silver roots marble for the head as well as for the desktop and the forward wall.

Back out on deck, there’s a relaxation area far forward with a sun pad, a C-shaped sofa and a table for cocktails and snacks. That main-deck space is one of several outdoor relaxation zones, which also include the flybridge for alfresco lunches and dinners.

Guest staterooms are belowdecks, with three VIPs and a twin-berth setup that converts to a double on sliders.

Power, according to Ferretti Yachts preliminary data, is twin 2,000-horsepower MAN V-12 engines for a top hop of 25 knots and a cruising speed of 21 knots.

Who gets credit for creating the Ferretti Yachts 940? The yacht is a collaboration between the Strategic Product Committee chaired by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. Exterior styling is by Filippo Salvetti, and interiors are by the design firm Ideaeitalia.
