Wider Yachts has been quite busy in 2018, putting the final touches on its 165-foot mega yacht Cecilia. The yard is currently focusing on the installation and testing of technical systems to ensure that once the yacht hits the water, its commissioning time will be brief. The company is trying to capitalize on the experience it gained from delivering Cecilia‘s sistership Bartali to her owner last June.
The yacht will have counter-rotating azimuthal pods that the builder says produce less noise and vibration than traditional power trains. Those pods will work in tandem with environmentally friendly electric motors to give the boat a respectable 12.5-knot cruise speed. Interestingly, the boat’s hybrid propulsion system is located forward, not aft, like on most yachts.
Like Bartali, Cecilia will also be equipped with zero-speed stabilizers from Naiad which should enhance her ride in most any conditions. The yacht’s electronics have nearly all been installed at this point, with the exception of her touchscreens, which should be arriving at the yard shortly.
The boat’s exterior areas are also nearly completed. Topcoats have been applied and teak decking has been installed and is awaiting a final sanding before the yacht splashes. On the inside, the boat has all its furniture installed in both guest and crew areas, and interior designer IdeaItalia is working on the finishing touches. Notable interior areas include a large study with a terrace, a gym also with a terrace, a sauna and an en suite owner’s cabin.
Cecilia will also have some exterior spaces that should make her owner very happy. On the foredeck there’s a Jacuzzi and circular seating areas, as well as a helipad, should guests need to make a quick trip inland. That helipad doubles as a dance floor once the sun goes down and the music turns up.
One of the standouts on Wider’s previous 150 launch was her beach club, which is made possible in part by the forward-situated engine room. The 165 has taken the beach club concept up a notch. Not only can guests unwind at sea level and commune with the natural environment, but the beach club is also where the sauna is, so relaxation mode is ratched up to the utmost. The space can also house a Wider 32 tender, just like the 150 has.
The Wider 165 will splash this spring with a final delivery in the summer. She is currently listed by Wider at $30 million.
