Volvo Penta is now offering OceanX corrosion protection coatings as an option with its Forward Drive systems.
The titanium-ceramic OceanX coating, which covers the entire drive assembly, makes the Volvo Penta drives four times more resistant to galvanic corrosion, according to the company.
The OceanX package also includes two electronic sensors that deliver audible and visual warnings if there’s water in the bellows. The sensors also monitor the quality of the drive gear’s lubricant for signs of corrosion.

Why does the name OceanX sound familiar? It was introduced for Volvo Penta sterndrives in 2009. Its availability with Forward Drives is the news today.
