We were impressed with the care taken by Hodgdon Yachts in its recent launch of Comanche, a 100 Super Maxi sailing yacht. Lockheed Martin took a slightly different approach with the launch of the $360-million combat ship USS Detroit, which it pretty much tossed from the ramp into the water like a plastic kayak off a swim platform.
