Version 1.0.0 of Signal K has been released. It’s a data standard that gives developers a platform for building hardware and software in an open-source, web-friendly, extendable way for boats.
According to its creators, Signal K converts, combines and expands the NMEA protocols on most boat navigation systems, making the older formats compatible with the latest mobile devices and Internet-based communications technologies.
To get to the launch of version 1.0.0, the team had more than 350 participants, including various companies worldwide.
