In Latin, invictus means unconquerable. You may recall the poem by that name, written in 1875 by William Ernest Hemley. It’s a favorite among yachtsmen, especially its final lines: “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.”

Those words now hold especially true for the owners of the 216-foot Invictus, which Delta delivered from its Seattle yard this month. Johnson, Wen, Mulder & Associates Architecture worked with Diane Johnson Design on the interior, creating a space that is both stylish and in keeping with the owners’ desire for family cruising. There are opulent foyers as well as intimate lounge areas done in a mix of exotic woods, intricate veneers, custom Lalique glasswork and rare Italian marbles.

Onboard features include a grand piano in the main salon, an upper-deck dining table for 20 guests framed by curved sliding glass doors, an on-deck gymnasium with magnificent views, a fold-out teak beach club at water level, a custom 28-foot Comitti tender, Quantum zero-speed stabilizers, and a cinema with raised stadium-style seating.

Delta Design Group handled naval architecture for the ice-strengthened steel hull and composite superstructure. Invictus is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516s and carries more than 50,000 gallons of fuel, giving her a 6,000-nm range at 12 knots. Her maximum speed is 17 knots.

Invictus will be available for select charters in the Caribbean and Mediterranean through Burgess Yachts. Learn more about the build at www.deltamarine.com.
