Tiara’s line of coupes has been a coup for the builder in recent years. With a 39, 44, 53 and now a 49, the line offers fun and luxury while being relatively wash and wear.
The C 49 has classic Tiara lines — recognizable from a distance — and Volvo Penta D8-IPS800s with joystick controls, making her easier to maneuver around the docks and at slow speeds in general. Garmin’s Glass Cockpit controls are at the helm too, with LED lighting, Bluetooth and an audio system integrated as standard features throughout the boat. A Seakeeper gyrostabilizer is an option.
Tiara Yachts’ marketing director, David Glenn, says the 49 Coupe “has basically taken all that we’ve learned from our other coupes and stepped it up a notch, with new fabrics, new materials in the interior and a slightly different-looking profile. She’s a little roomier too. We took a lot of dealer and customer feedback and put it into the 49, and we think a lot of people are going to be very happy with it.”
The C 49 has a single-level salon that makes moving about in a seaway easier, and whose wraparound windows and overhead glass give the interior a wide-open feel. There are options for hardwood finishes and fabrics, so owners can make the boats feel like their own. Corian and quartz accents add a luxe touch.
Down below are two nearly equal-size staterooms, with the master amidships. It is full-beam and en suite, while the forepeak VIP has private access to the day-head. The sleeping setup makes this boat well suited for two-couple cruising. Settees on this level can serve double duty as small bunks for kids.
Back up top and aft, an optional hydraulic swim platform lets humans and tenders get in and out of the water more easily. The C 49’s cockpit has transom seating with a teak table. Tiara added a corner seat that connects the transom bench to a starboard bench, to create an L-shaped perch. There’s also an aft-facing seat to port.
The cockpit and salon become a combined space once the sliding door between the two is open. This configuration is in line with Tiara’s emphasis on indoor-outdoor living. Both areas are serviced by an aft galley with a two-burner cooktop, a microwave/convection oven, and enough refrigeration for long weekends.
Getting to and from anchorages can happen at a top-end of 34.1 knots, according to Tiara. At 2,750 rpm and a cruising speed of 26.2 knots, the C 49 has a projected range of 219 nautical miles.
And when you get back to the dock, this yacht’s single-level, express-style design makes her easy to clean. The 49 Coupe has sporty performance, a clean design and a thoughtful layout, which should equal broad appeal with yachtsmen.
