Bisbees 2013 tournament winner
The biggest, strongest men could only stand by and watch with amazement this year as women anglers landed the two biggest fish at the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico — an event dominated by men since it began in 1981.
Linda Williams of California brought in a 774-pound blue marlin while fishing with her team aboard the _ II Success_. That fish was the second-largest qualifying catch in tournament history. It took her nearly two hours to land it.
The runner-up was Martha McNabb, who lives near Cabo and was fishing with her team aboard the Retriever. She landed a 525-pound marlin, making her the second-place finisher for the second time in this particular tournament.
Williams’s fish brought her team $368,675, while McNabb’s catch netted her team $1,185,862 million thanks to extra side jackpots.
“I think this week we showed what lady anglers can do,” Williams told www.grindtv.com. “We can compete on this level without question.”
