Turquoise Yachts in Istanbul, Turkey, has bid farewell to the 183-foot Blue II after a launch and delivery schedule that had to be tweaked in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Blue II launched on May 12, but because of flight restrictions from the virus, commissioning had to be completed remotely. On July 29, the yacht began her maiden voyage.

Hoek Design handled the exterior styling and interior design for Blue II, using computational fluid dynamics. The yacht is designated Ice Class 1B, which means she can explore the polar regions and the Northwest Passage.

Blue II also has IMO Tier III diesel-electric propulsion, under-deck stowage for two tenders, and an interior volume of 785 gross tons with guest spaces spanning four decks.

The interior décor by Hoek Design, in cooperation with Vickers Studio and Dols Home, includes the use of teak.

How fast does Blue II cruise? Reportedly, her diesel-electric propulsion system can achieve 13 knots. It’s a combination of Caterpillar C32 engines and 800 kW e-motors.
