The latest iteration in the Navetta line from Absolute Yachts is the Navetta 68, which falls between the 58 and 73. The 68 carries on the series’ tradition of matching striking lines with performance that spans the gap between that of a long-range cruiser and a sporty motoryacht. She reportedly sees speeds in the mid- to high-20-knot range.
This model has an interior laid out for longer stays aboard. That includes a feeling of roominess: The salon is perhaps most notable for its nearly sole-to-ceiling windows, which allow for a strong interplay between the comforts of home and the nautical environment.
Four staterooms are on her accommodations level, including a forepeak master and an amidships VIP—both of which span the yacht’s beam—and twin-berth guest staterooms between them, one with single berths that can join together. That last feature should come in handy if this boat is used for cruising with three couples.
The Italian-built Navettas have always eschewed sleekness, instead displaying high bulwarks and a helm station that, on the exterior, flirts with a workboat-type look. This is no accident. The 68 was meant for longer voyages, say, a weeklong excursion in the southern Bahama Islands or a sun-soaked trip skirting Croatian hotspots such as Split and Hvar.
As for exterior spaces, the 68 has a hydraulic swim platform that lends itself well to swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Forward of that, the cockpit has a dining settee protected by a retractable aft sunshade for comfortable meals even when the sun isn’t behaving. Just through the salon door are an aft galley and a fully protected indoor dining area.
Absolute Yachts intends for the yacht’s foredeck to be used as a secondary cockpit, which is why there is more than just the sun pad typical of boats in this range. The sun pad is, of course, there (with reclining seats), but there’s also a settee with a table for cocktails once happy hour rolls around.
The 68’s flybridge comprises a third outdoor-entertainment space. The L-shaped sofa and dining settee to starboard should be a good place for alfresco meals cooked up at the barbecue. The upper helm is surrounded by sofas as well, so the captain can have some conversation en route to the next waypoint.
