The Princess Y85 sets a new standard with its perfect combination of class leading design and stunning performance capabilities to deliver quality time while aboard. Hand-built in Plymouth, England, the Y85 offers a unique experience, created for the owner who enjoys spending time on board in ultimate style and luxury and appreciates the highest level of detailed design. The Princess Design Studio and long-standing naval architect Olesinski worked closely with Pininfarina to combine a unique sculptural elegance and simplicity of form that gives the Y85 breathtaking new looks while remaining unmistakably Princess. The design teams focus was as much on interior layout and functionality as on exterior elegance and detail – a beautiful balance of form and function.
The Y85 heralds a new elevated vision for the design detail and use of craftsmanship that will become a hallmark for Y Class Motor Yachts. On the Y85, particular attention has gone into creating a sumptuously detailed and crafted cockpit area with organic, flowing teak forms that glide over and around the transom, fully capped teak staircases, teak railings, a high level of feature lighting and elegant furniture which showcase the unique capabilities of Princess’s craftsmen and craftswomen. Be it through the elegant cascade of structure from the hardtop, the inviting interior furniture or even the gentle glow cast by the stairwell lighting, the Y85′s design follows an orchestrated arrangement of beauty and function to delight the senses.
The Y85 boasts generous reserves with powerful twin MAN V12 engines – either 1800mhp or 1900mhp variants – the latter powering the Y85 up to 32 knots. Princess’s pioneering deep-V hull design is the foundation to this unique performance. This concept was further refined to deliver 13% greater efficiency than the preceding design of the Y82. As expected from a Princess, comfortable, quiet cruising is achieved with a fully sound-proofed engine room.
An Unashamed Focus on Al-Fresco Living
The flybridge of the Y85 is designed to share outdoor experiences with family and friends. A large dining area opposite a fully- equipped wet bar, barbecue and fridge, further complemented by a large aft sunpad and forward-facing seating either side of the helm position, creates a space where guests can take shade underneath a piece of the floating architecture – the practical wave like louvred hardtop, with an optional glass roof, exclusive to Y Class (optional).
Up front, the bow area offers a U-shaped seating area – a unique and memorable place to enjoy sundowners. The sunbeds feature adjustable teak headrests, converting to provide additional aft-facing seating around an optional coffee table. At the stern, an aft- mounted, hydraulic swim platform allows family and guests to cool off and enjoy watersports.
The Y85 interior is available in six different wood options – Rovere oak or Alba oak in a satin finish as standard and for an additional charge, Silver oak or Walnut wood in a gloss or satin finish. Every yacht is unique and an experienced Princess Design consultant is on hand to support the process of specifying the materials and finishes to the interior and exterior spaces, ensuring the client’s vision becomes a reality.
The expansive single level main deck offers a variety of entertaining spaces from the large aft cockpit dining area, featuring a hand-crafted teak table, moving inside to sociable U-shaped aft seating, and forward to a circular dining area adjacent to the well-equipped galley. The flexibility of the area continues into the galley which is fitted with a sliding door and an elegant electronic divider which seamlessly disappears into the marble bar unit to transform the galley from open and sociable to fully enclosed, perfect for creating privacy between guests and crew.
The galley is fitted to the owner’s choice with either granite or quartz worktops alongside a 4-zone induction hob, combination microwave/convection oven with grill, full height refrigerator/deep freezer, icemaker and dishwasher. Additional privacy is also maximised by a separate wheelhouse with seating area and the ability for the crew to move discretely around the yacht by utilising side deck doors from the helm and galley areas.
Below deck, four ensuite cabins can sleep eight guests supported by class-leading crew quarters with two further cabins and a crew mess. The elegant master stateroom makes full use of the Y85′s exceptional beam amidships, with natural light flooding in from two large windows further complemented by a selection of feature lighting options.
A large ensuite bathroom positioned aft of the stateroom includes his and hers sinks and dressing room equipped with wardrobes and drawers. The luxurious specification also includes the latest UHD LED television, while a celebrated partnership with Naim Audio produces the most highly developed audio system to ever feature as standard on a luxury motor yacht.
The layout of the Y85′s crew quarters feature both a Captain’s cabin with single
bed and crew cabin with twin single beds. The crew area is fitted with multiple appliances and is accessed from either the transom door or starboard side deck with direct access to the engine room.
