Italian builder Sessa Marine introduced its C44, the updated version of its C43, at Boot Düsseldorf. The 45-foot-5-inch yacht’s restyled design results from a collaboration between Christian Grande and Centrostiledesign in Imola, Italy. Notable elements like elongated, knife-shaped hullside windows fit the builder’s new elegant and sporty direction, it says.
Owner’s can order the C44 with one of two cockpit layouts: A U-shaped settee (upholstery is waterproof and UV-ray-resistant) with teak table, sun pad and tender garage aft or, what the builder calls a “double cockpit,” two of those settees and tables that can seat 12 overall. That choice may come down to an owner’s entertainment style. Both cockpits have a hardtop with electric sunroof, however, and the helm station is forward and to starboard, with a bench seat for a helmsman and a helper. While that seat is behind a windshield, the captain still can enjoy wind in his hair via the opening window to starboard.
That helm console is champagne in color and comes with Raymarine Axiom 12 GPS, Volvo Penta IPS joystick, hydraulics controls and Volvo Penta electronic engine controls. Additionally, it’s set up with an rpm indicator with digital display, plus indicators for oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level and rudder indicators.
Finally, the cockpit has a station to starboard and abaft the helm that could come with a sink, teak cutting board and refrigerator, depending on owner’s cockpit choice. No matter what, the yacht has a hydraulic swim platform with transonm shower, and there’s more space to soak up some rays on her foredeck, which has a sun pads with drink holders for two.
The guest space belowdecks includes an amidships salon/dinette and galley, as well as a stateroom aft that could be considered the master, with an athwartships double berth and private en suite head. The forepeak stateroom has a double berth as well, but its head can also be accessed from the shared guest space. The showers in both staterooms’ heads are teak-soled, but the rest of the rooms’ soles are oak. I would imagine the staterooms will have a warm vibe, considering a fair number of elements are upholstered. Both staterooms’ head board and side tables are upholstered, and the VIP also has an upholstered bookcase.
The galley has an electric cooktop, stainless-steel countertops, a sink, a microwave oven and a refrigerator. Meals can be enjoyed at the U-shaped seating and table — or alfresco style in the cockpit, of course. However, the table is retractable, shifting the settee into a lounging spot too.
