Sanlorenzo says its geared its SX88 toward American owners for the model’s stateside debut at the 2018 Miami Yacht Show on Collins Avenue. Overall, the builder calls the model a crossover of its Explorer class yacht and a flybridge motoryacht, also referring to it as “a superyacht that feels like an open loft.” That last descriptor is particularly apt because of the SX88’s main-deck open layout option, and the builder’s extensive use of glass. The SX88 made her world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the builder says more than 12 hulls are already spoken for.
The Americas edition will have standard 220-volt/60 Hz power system, dual-chiller Tropicalized air conditioning and a flybridge layout that has additional seating and a three-stool bar. A standard feature on any version, the flybridge area under the hardtop can be enclosed and air conditioned, and the open area aft offers alfresco dining.
Additionally, all on board equipment and appliances for the SX88 Americas edition are available locally and therefore easily serviced. Furnishings and décor differ slightly on this edition as well, including what Sanlorenzo Americas calls an upgrade to custom elements from Italian brand Minotti for the exterior. The yacht’s interior soles and ceilings are from Listone Giordano, and chairs from Italian brand Trona are on the beach club, as is a removable stainless-steel shower.
For either the European or American edition, the “open loft” descriptor refers to the yacht’s main deck. Owner’s can choose to have their salon aft and the master stateroom forward, but the more unique option would be to put the master belowdecks and have an open layout from stern to bow. That option is possible because the galley is open and the helm is on the upper deck, plus there are no interior bulwarks. Sole-to-ceiling windows just add to the feel.
Owners also can choose to have either a 4- or 5-stateroom layout, so accommodations are for either 8 or 10 guests. (Crew accommodations are for 3.) If an owner chooses a main-deck master stateroom, the SX88 gets a galley down. Otherwise, the stateroom is on the lower deck. More accommodations on board include space for a 14-foot-9-inch tender, as well as a Jet Ski on her aft deck.
The SX88 is 87 feet 6 inches length overall and has a 23-foot-6-inch beam. Her maximum draft is 5 feet 5 inches. The yacht is powered by triple 1,050 hp Volvo Penta IPS engines that enable a reported max speed of 23 knots, and she cruises at 20 knots. The builder reports a 1,000-nautical-mile range. Fuel capacity is 2,245 gallons.
