Amped Wireless UA600EX adapter
A standard wireless networking adapter — the kind you might find in a laptop computer — has an output of about 50 milliwatts. Amped Wireless promises to enhance that output range with its new UA600EX adapter, making it possible for your computer to receive WiFi signals from about quadruple the distance.
A high-gain directional antenna works with a power amplifier to generate the boost in WiFi range. The UA600EX comes in a weatherproof casing with more than 26 feet of USB cable for use inside the boat or on deck. The adapter can be mounted on walls, poles or any flat surface. The mounts are included.
The UA600EX is designed to work with newer Windows- and Mac-based operating systems. Computer requirements include having a CD/DVD drive, 100 megabytes of free disk space, and access to a wireless 802.11b/g/n network (standards to which many WiFi networks conform). One open USB port will suffice, but for optimal performance, Amped Wireless recommends using two simultaneously.
