The International Superyacht Society, at its annual ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, gave the 2017 Best Refit Award to Pendennis Shipyard for work aboard the 280-foot Derecktor Aquila.
The ISS award is Pendennis’ second for the project. It also won Best Refit at the World Superyacht Awards in May.
Aquila‘s refit was the largest superyacht refit ever done in the United Kingdom, with more than 8,600 square feet of interior and exterior space upgraded, along with all interior technology systems. The work took 12 months in Falmouth.
“The fact that this extensive project was delivered on time and to our owners’ satisfaction is testament to the skill and professionalism of all at Pendennis Shipyard and their subcontractors,” Aquila‘s captain, Darryl Chalmers, stated in a press release. “From the crew’s perspective, it was a joy to work with a shipyard that strived to get the job done right first time, and to the highest standards.”
