186-foot Alloy sailing yacht Mondango 3
Alloy Yachts tweeted this photo of the 186-foot Mondango 3 being moved out of the building shed ahead of her official launch into New Zealand’s Auckland Viaduct Harbor. We’re among the excited masses cheering the builder on, since the previous Mondango was such a stunner.
The existing Mondango, a 170-footer also from Alloy, has earned a fantastic reputation on the charter market since launching in 2008, thanks in part to her brilliant interior décor that includes a floating wall of artwork in the main salon. Her weekly base rate is about $246,000 at the current conversion rate from euros, making her one of the premier sailing yachts for charter worldwide.
We hear that the owners have put all of that experience and more into the making of Mondango 3, which is rumored to feature a spa pool on the aft deck along with a Reymond Langton interior, just as with the previous yacht. Also returning on this project is Dubois for naval architecture, and the yacht will have a swing lift centerboard to reduce draft in shallower waters.
