The Old Helipad Just Wouldn’t Do

Lürssen has just completed a refit of the 223-foot Global, which originally launched from the German shipyard as Kismet in 2007.

A major aspect of the project was enhancing the helicopter deck, which the yard says is now “significantly larger and safer for regular helicopter operations.” Lighting and hinged railings are part of the new helipad, which was built at the Lürssen facility.

As Kismet, the yacht had a dark hull with light superstructure. Global now has a light gray exterior color scheme that accents new hull lines by Espen Oeino, who was commissioned to update the original design while maintaining its DNA.

Minor changes also were made to the interior décor.

Morley Yachts was the owner’s representative on the project, and Hill Robinson supervised the refit. Global is cruising the Mediterranean this summer.
