Superyacht builder Blohm+Voss is working with La Ciotat Shipyards to establish a new mega-yacht maintenance and refit facility in La Ciotat, South of France. A dry dock and neighboring workshop will be embedded within the existing shipyard’s footprint.
Services will be available for yachts more than 262 feet length overall, with operations scheduled to start this November.
“With our new office in Monaco and this central location in the Mediterranean, we are moving our core business closer to our customers,” said Fred van Beers, CEO at Blohm+Voss, which is based in Germany. “We are now offering more flexibility and tailored life-cycle services.”
Blohm+Voss will continue to offer refit work at its shipyard in Hamburg, in addition to work at the new location.
What comes next: Blohm+Voss plans to appoint a French-speaking manager for the new facility, recruit local staff and prepare for upcoming projects.
