Some styles are truly timeless. Take the new Huckins Sportsman 36. The builder launched the original Sportsman 36 in 1936. Now, Huckins is introducing a thoroughly modern version of this vintage design.
Power will be twin 280 SHP diesels, which reportedly will have the yacht planing at 11 knots. The builder says the 36’s cruising speed will be 28 knots with a 30-plus-knot top end. Like all Huckins, this 36-footer will have the builder’s patented Quadraconic hull form, and the yacht can be configured with conventional straight shafts and props, pod drives or jet drives. Note to the future owner: if you were to choose pod drives, your cock pit would be a little larger.
The Sportsman’s interior is said to have 6-foot- 6-inch headroom and a forepeak, step-up queen berth can accommodate a cruising couple.
If classic is your style, you may want to keep an eye on the Huckins Sportsman 36.
