Arnold & Son has unveiled a new version of its Golden Wheel timepiece, part of the Instrument Collection that pays tribute to timepieces developed during the second half of John Arnold’s life and with his son Roger.
The Golden Wheel is a 3-D interpretation of a wandering hours complication that dates to table clocks from the mid-1600s. Pocket watches with the complication likely debuted in England in the early 1700s.
The current version is offered in solid 18-karat red gold with sapphire discs, a mother-of-pearl arc and a central golden hand. Price is $49,950, and only 125 editions exist.
