Mercury Marine has launched a 400-horsepower Verado outboard engine — the highest-horsepower Verado to date.
The engine joins a 350-horsepower Verado and a Mercury Racing 400R in the engine-maker’s product lineup.
“As boats continue to increase in size, so has the need for more power,” John Pfeifer, Mercury Marine’s president, stated in a press release. “This gives us an opportunity to provide an even higher horsepower Verado in the market, providing the durability and reliability that the Verado brand is known for around the world.”
The 400-horsepower Verado is designed for center consoles and larger sport boats, at a retail price of $34,135. Weighing 668 pounds, the same as the 350-horsepower Verado, the 400-horsepower Verado is reportedly the lightest outboard in the 400-plus horsepower category by nearly 300 pounds. The engine is compatible with Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards.
Available colors for the 400-horsepower Verado: Phantom Black, and three whites called Warm Fusion, Cold Fusion and Pearl Fusion.
