Ft. Myers and St. Pete!

If you missed the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, you still have a chance to see some new models and catch some seminars at two upcoming shows this fall.

The 38th Ft. Myers Boat Show is happening November 11 through November 14. A wide array of boats will be on display — everything from off-shore fishing boats to luxury yachts to dinghy’s and kayaks. There will be both new and brokerage boats at the docks and hundreds of smaller boats inside.

Also on display: electronics, motors, fishing equipment, and other accessories as well as nautical clothing and gift items. Seminars on fishing and boating safety, as well as tackle exhibits and advice from local guides, will be a part of the Fort Myers Fishing Village, sponsored by Nautical Mile Publications. Admission is $8.00. www.fortmyersboatshow.com

The Gulf Coast’s largest boat show, the St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, will take place December 2 through December 5, 2010. This year’s show venue is the Progress Energy Center for the Arts Mahaffey Theater Yacht Basin and Albert Whitted Park in St. Petersburg, Florida. This new and larger waterfront area will also include a 40,000-square-foot tent. Hundreds of powerboats and sailboats will be on display, including family cruisers, runabouts, fishing boats, and daysailers.

There will be an array of special events and educational activities, including the new Blue Wild Dive and Travel Show, and youth fishing clinics presented by the non-profit Hook The Future. www.showmanagement.com/st_petersburg/event/
