Saluzi refit at Horizon

Horizon Yachts doesn’t just built megayachts, it refits them, too. And the Horizon Group Refit Department is presently working on quite the project, the 227-foot (69.1-meter) Saluzi. __

Saluzi is better known under her previous name, Tia Moana. The all-aluminum megayacht was built by Austal Shipyards, parent company of Oceanfast, in 2003 and ranked among the 100 largest yachts in the world for several years. She’s been used in the Maldives and Asian waters by extra-large charter parties, able to accommodate 36 guests. In fact, nearly all of her bridge deck and main deck are comprised of staterooms, with the exceptions being two small saloons aft on the bridge deck and a traditional full-beam lounge aft on the main deck.

The refit at Horizon will make Saluzi more akin to other super-size superyachts. All of the staterooms are being reconfigured so that there will now be 16 cabins, and far more spacious ones at that. In addition, Saluzi will see the addition of hot tubs, sunning spaces, teak decks, and an entirely new decor. Hopefully the latter will still preserve the poker and mah-jong tables in the main lounge, plus the spa.

Saluzi’_s refit should wrap up by year’s end. She’ll then join the 130-foot (39.6-meter) _Sea Hunter and the 161-foot (49-meter) Auroroa as projects completed by the Horizon Group Refit Department. In the meantime, if you’re curious about the megyacht’s name, Saluzi was a favorite horse owned by Emperor Li Shih Min, of the Tang Dynasty.
