Fox News television host Geraldo Rivera has donated his 68-foot sailing yacht, Voyager, to the Maine Maritime Academy, where students will now use it for training toward limited U.S. Coast Guard licenses as part of the school’s operations technology and small vessel operations programs.
“They were so eager and enthusiastic and such good sailors,” Rivera told The Bangor Daily News about meeting the students in Maine. “It was a bittersweet moment, but it just feels like the right thing.”
Rivera is a serious sailor himself, having taken Voyager to Tonga, up the Amazon River and beyond. The 1972 build has naval architecture by Sparkman and Stephens and was originally built for former IBM President Thomas Watson Jr.
