Hinckley Yachts has unveiled the Sou’wester 53, a carbon-epoxy yacht created in collaboration with Tripp Design Naval Architecture.
The Sou’wester 53, Hinckley says, is a design for the “pure joys of sailing, which have been somewhat lost on today’s wide-body cruising catamarans.”
She has a modern performance hull and a draft of 8 feet 3 inches, for cruising in most harbors. There’s a protected pilothouse as well as an on-deck stern helm station that is raised for a full view of the sail plan.
According to Hinckley, the Sou’wester 53 can sail or motor at more than 10 knots.
Are you a fan of Hinckley’s Picnic Boats and Talaria motoryachts? The builder says it took what it learned about inside-out entertainment from those designs and applied it to the Sou’wester 53.
