Glider Yachts first model, the Super Sport 18 dubbed M, is set to be revealed on June 8 at the London On-Water boat show. The unveiling is scheduled for 10 a.m. at St. Katherine’s Docks in central London.
This British builder says it strives for design innovation and the SS18 displays that DNA, the result of 8 years of research and development. She has a head-turning, catamaran hull form constructed from aluminum and composite materials. She is 60 feet LOA with a 17-foot beam, and has a relatively shallow 1-foot draft. Powered by quad Yamaha 300 hp outboards, she can reportedly reach 50 knots, and with her Stability Control System (SCS), should give a smooth ride while doing it.
The builder refers to the SS18’s interior as “minimalist,” with a blue and grey color scheme, leather seating and chrome edging. At her 50-knot top-end, the SS18 has a 130-nautical-mile range. With optional increased tankage, her range extends to 340 nautical miles.
Next up for Glider Yachts is the Sports Xtra (SX18), which will reportedly make a 100-knot top-end speed. Additional builds include luxury sports limousines and the GT and SX-E range, with vessels to 80 feet LOA.
For now, however, London is the place to be, June 8, as the world says hello to M.
