The technology to spot a man overboard at night or an intruder lurking in the shadows, while once reserved for the military, will soon be available in the pockets of every smartphone owner thanks to the FLIR One ($350) thermal-imaging case. Predicted to be available this summer for the iPhone 5/5S (an Android version is in the works), it allows users to send texts one second and see a ship passing in the night the next.
