The newest Zeelander Z55 can reportedly hit a 42-knot top speed. In accomplishing this feat, the builder was simply following orders: her owner wanted the fastest Zeelander ever built, and he got it. This 55-foot speedster will make her world debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this fall.
The Z55 is powered with twin 1,000 hp Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350 engines. “In order to install the new motors,” says Leonardo van den Berg, Commercial Director at Zeelander Yachts, “we have further increased the hull strength around the engine room and additional lamination thickness from bow to midship.”
Beyond its speed, this Z55 also boasts relative quiet. Zeelander hired consulting engineers who implemented additional sound-attenuation measures, such as rubber matting on the chine, upgraded engine-room insulation and flexible mounting for pumps, motors and the gyrostabilizer.
As for social space, this Z55’s deck offers 430 square feet from her helm to the swim platform. The area includes a starboard-facing U-shaped settee with table in the cockpit, plus another settee opposite. Forward is a bar with 3 stools beyond which is the external galley. An L-shaped settee with table abaft her helm station offers a spot to dine in the shade. For jaunts ashore or other adventures, the yacht holds a Williams jet tender in her amidships garage, as well as two Seabobs.
The Z55’s standard belowdecks layout includes 3 staterooms. Her amidships en suite master has a vanity with rising mirror at the foot of the berth, while the forepeak VIP stateroom’s berth is a step-up. The latter shares a head with the third stateroom stateroom set up with twin bunks and abaft and to starboard of the VIP.
This sporty performer will debut in Fort Lauderdale waters from October 31 through November 4 in Red Zone DE2-10. If you want a speedster like her, the asking price is $2,807,200.
And there’s moe to come. Zeelander’s new flagship, the Z66, was unveiled just last month and is slated to launch in early 2019. Plus, a spin on the Z55, the Z55 Corniche, is in development.
