A true adventurer’s vessel, the second SeaXplorer 75 expedition yacht from Damen has been sold. This 246-footer is built for thrill-seeking fun, specifically for activities such as diving and heli-skiing.
You could accurately call the SeaXplorer 75 an enabler for adrenaline junkies. According to Rose Damen, the builder’s commercial director, hull No.2’s owner plans to ski and snowboard down slopes like Kamchatka in the Russian Far East, and dive and sport fish in Papua New Guinea and the Galapagos Islands. “They will be in places with no supporting infrastructure,” she says, “no roads and no heliports within range. So, we designed the SeaXplorer 75 to carry out such complex operations with the highest level of safety, redundancy and autonomy.”
Part of that redundancy is a heliport built for not one, but two helicopters. Damen says that off-piste heli-skiing and heli-boarding are hugely popular, but risky. When you’re dealing with nature and remoteness combined, a back-up helicopter is simply the smart and safe choice.
Further amenities include the 75’s swim platform, which leads to the “dive center,” an area with room for changing and prepping, as well as the stowage and compressor room for tanks. The yacht also has a garage that can house a 34-foot tender, retractable zero-speed stabilizers for icy conditions, a dive support tender and rescue tender, and, for guest relaxation after a long day of adventuring, a Jacuzzi on the sun deck. She accommodates 12 guests in 7 staterooms, as well as 25 crew.
The countdown to cruising is on: Hull No.2’s owner will take delivery in the second half of 2020.
