Custom Line, part of the Ferretti Group in Italy, has unveiled the 120 Planing Yacht. It’s the new flagship of the Planing line, which ranges from 106 to 120 feet length overall.
The 120 Planing Yacht is a Francesco Paszkowski design in collaboration with the Ferretti Group Strategic Product Committee, which engineer Piero Ferrari leads. It’s Paszkowski’s first work for Custom Line.
Key design elements include a hull inspired by racing powerboats, and the use of carbon in the superstructure, which allows part of the flybridge to extend toward the bow without the need for supports in the cockpit. The cockpit’s glass door is at a 45-degree angle. In addition to sliding open, it can tilt to raise up and insert into the ceiling, creating an indoor-outdoor space on that deck.
Power is a pair of 2,600-horsepower MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines. Custom Line is projecting a cruising speed of 21 knots and a top speed of 25 knots. At 11 knots, range is expected to be 1,100 nautical miles.
Accommodations: There’s a main-deck master along with four belowdecks guest staterooms. Beds in the two VIP guest staterooms face the hull windows for outdoor views.
