[Spirit Yachts](Spirit Yachts, Yachts, Tenders) in Britain plans to start construction this year on a 39-foot Spirit P40 tender.
With seating for eight people, the Spirit P40 combines 1930s styling (instrument dials are inspired by vintage aircraft) with the level of performance and practical features that superyacht owners expect.
“We are seeing increasing demand for modern classic tenders for superyachts,” Spirit Yachts Managing Director Nigel Stuart stated in a press release. “The misconception has previously been that wooden boats were slow and heavy, but Spirit Yachts’ lightweight construction coupled with engineering expertise means we are delivering on performance as well as style.”
Amenities include upholstered-leather seating, ski tow brackets, a fold-down swim ladder, underwater lighting and a Fusion stereo system. The air-conditioned interior cabin, with seating that converts to a double berth, is accessed through mahogany doors.
Performance details: Two MerCruiser TDi 370 engines allow for a cruising range of 320 nautical miles at 30 knots, according to the builder.
