“We reported on the advances in technology and building techniques that have allowed Viking CEO Pat Healey and his designers, technicians, workers, installers, captains, and sales and support staff to live up to the Viking mantra: building a better boat every day,” Yachting previously wrote. “Proving the point anew is the builder’s Viking 80C. To be sure, there’s beauty in this beast, and it is obvious to the eye and the senses as she comes into view.”
For owners in the market for an oversized sportfisherman, HMY Yacht Sales currently has Mirage, a 2017 Viking 80 Enclosed Bridge, listed with a $6.875 million price tag. The 80-foot sportfisherman features a three-stateroom layout that sleeps six and a twin-berth crew quarters.
“Mirage is sure to impress her new owners with a lengthy list of custom features,” HMY Yachts says. “The 80 Enclosed Bridge Viking is the perfect sportfish for both tournament fishing and cruising to desired destinations.”
The 216-square-foot, teak-deck mezzanine cockpit on this 80-foot sportfisherman is blank slate, ready for its new owner to crown with a fighting chair. An array of features reaffirm the cockpit’s ability to support big-game fishing, including a livewell in transom, Eskimo ice dump into the fish box, a freezer in the mezzanine, a freshwater washdown and a refrigerator step box. When it’s time to keep an eye on the lines, guests can sit back and relax on the air-conditioned mezzanine seating. If the sun is too much, the crew can put up a sun shade.
Mirage’s salon, like all Viking interiors, is as luxurious as its exterior is built for backing down billfish. A U-shaped sofa to port offers lounge seating for up to six people. The galley is forward to port with a dinette directly to starboard. The galley is equipped with a four-burner Miele cooktop, a Miele oven, a microwave/convection oven, SubZero refrigerator drawers, a stainless-steel sink and a wine cooler.
Taking the starboard stairs up to the enclosed bridge, owners will find the helm station which is equipped with a Stidd helm chair and companion seats to port and starboard. Relaxation amenities on the bridge deck include an L-shaped sofa, a 32-inch flat-screen TV and refrigeration.
After a successful day of offshore fishing comes to an end, owners and their guests can head belowdecks where three en suite staterooms await. Amidships, the full-beam master stateroom has a walkaround king berth and a 60-inch flat-screen TV. The forepeak VIP stateroom has a walkaround queen berth and a 40-inch flat-screen TV as does the port guest cabin.
Twin 2,635 hp MTU V16 M96L diesels combined with a 12.4-degree transom deadrise push Mirage to an impressive 41.6-knot top hop. It’s worth noting that while these engines have 1,489 hours on them, they have an extended MTU warranty until 9/11/2026 or 2,089 hours.
