Snowbird, a 2020 Viking 68 Convertible listed HMY Yacht Sales, is a tournament-ready sportfisherman with plush comforts. The 68-foot sport-fisherman comes with a customized-to-match 2019 17-foot Maverick flats boat. The asking price is $5.248 million.
“A lot of people, it seems, agree that this boat is a good bet. As with most Vikings, the 68C’s story starts with her ride,” Yachting previously reported. “As I pushed her throttles forward in choppy 2- to 4-footers off the New Jersey coastline, the yacht got up and out of the hole with ease, thanks in large part to a hull with a fine entry that flattens to 12.1 degrees of deadrise at the transom (a design that also helps with stability on the hook or when drifting). The 68C has a Viper steering system, meaning her rudders are independent of each other, a setup that gives the captain a high level of control.”
Snowbird is equipped with the optional twin 1,945 hp MTU V12 M96L 2000 diesels, giving the 68-footer a 39-knot top hop and a 35-knot cruise speed. The 176-square-foot cockpit is rigged for serious pelagic pursuits. The air-conditioned, mezzanine seating offers a comfortable spot to relax and watch the baits as well as store them with a built-in tackle cabinet with pullout drawers and a bait freezer.
Other cockpit features include the Release Marine Trillion Fighting Chair, fresh and saltwater washdown, a refrigerated chill box in the salon entrance step, flush rod holders, tackle and gaff stowage, an in-deck fishwell and an available circulating livewell.
On the flybridge, the three-seat teak helm pod has unobstructed sightlines, so, whether you’re running wide open or backing down on a billfish, Snowbird is ready for action. Additional bench seating flanks the flybridge forward with a third, forward-facing bench seat directly in front of the helm station.
While the exterior is built with a focus on fishing, Viking doesn’t overlook providing a luxurious interior. Snowbird’s salon is penned for relaxation from the ambiance of its satin-finish walnut, light grey tones and waist-to-ceiling windows, to the variety of seating options. There is an L-shaped settee to port with a U-shaped dinette forward. The galley’s island also has a three-seat bar to starboard. The galley is equipped with a four-burner cooktop, a stainless-steel sink and under-counter refrigerator and freezer drawers.
After a successful day of fishing and it’s time to turn in for the evening, there are three staterooms belowdecks. The amidships master has an athwartships queen berth. The forepeak VIP also has a queen berth, while the starboard guest stateroom has upper and lower berths. Crew have a cabin aft with over-under berths and direct access to the engine room.
