Patriot, a 2018 Sabre 45 Salon Express, is a downeast-style yacht with ageless lines and a two-stateroom layout. Patriot has been well maintained over the years with an “open” checkbook and has recently been put on the market by Luke Brown Yachts for $1.195 million. Luke Brown Yachts says it will also accept clean trades.
“That Sabre’s Downeast design and 45 feet of resin-infused biaxial E-glass can handle a bit of snotty sea doesn’t exactly come as a shock. The real stunner is cruise-speed sound levels that are more Bentley than boat. Thanks to Corecell SAN foam coring, engine-room insulation, biaxial E-glass foam-cored stringers, and sound-deadening headliner panels, the cabin of the 45 Salon Express is surprisingly quiet. Sabre reports 73 decibels—about as loud as being in a car—at a 3,250 rpm cruise,” Yachting previously reported.
Patriot’s twin 435 hp Volvo Penta IPS 600 diesels provide a top-end speed of 31 knots. At 21 knots, the 45 Salon Express has a range of around 262 nautical miles.
Boarding is available via the swim platform and through the port- or starboard-side stainless-steel transom gates. The cockpit is set up with a forward-facing U-shaped settee with high-gloss table for al fresco dining and entertaining. Stainless-steel handrails and non-slip fiberglass soles are a few safety features to keep everyone sure-footed underway. Patriot has a lift aft that secures a AB 10-foot-11-inch aluminum bottom inflatable tender with a Tohatsu 30 hp engine.
Patriot’s pilothouse has large windows on each side allowing natural light to brighten the area while enhancing sightlines. An open-air environment can be created when opening up the door and windows to the cockpit , or keep it enclosed and take advantage of the A/C or heating system. Two Stidd N Series ultraleather captain’s chairs are at the helm, allowing the captain to remain comfortably seated while operating the joystick controls on the armrest. There is a retractable sunroof above the helm. Abaft the helm station, guests can relax on the starboard side L-shaped dinette with a folding table or the portside sofa while watching the game on the TV.

Down two steps from the helm station is Patriot’s galley. The varnished cherry interior is complemented with a two-drawer, stainless-steel refrigerator and one-drawer freezer, stainless-steel convection microwave, solid-surface countertop, two-burner electric cooktop and a stainless-steel under-mount sink with cover and pull-out faucet. Cold goods can be stowed in the refrigerator/freezer while dry goods and galley accessories can be stowed in drawers and stowage lockers below the counter. A built-in waste basket makes cleaning up a little easier.
When the day is done, there are two staterooms located forward of the galley. The forepeak master stateroom has an island berth with an en suite head. The wood grains from the teak-and-holly sole up to the cherry hull ceilings create a warm vibe and are complemented by light-colored fabrics. Stow your personal belongings in drawers beneath the berth, outboard berth cabinets with shelves, drawers in the portside bureau and a starboard side cedar-lined hanging locker. The guest stateroom has a double berth that converts to twin berths with an en suite head. Guests can stow their personal belongings in a stowage locker with shelves.
