The 2022 Outer Reef Yachts 72 Smile Smile Smile is looking for a new home and is listed for sale with Alexander Marine for $3.695 million.

Designed for making extended passages, this Outer Reef 72 offers a combination of efficiency, onboard comfort and upgraded technical systems. The motoryacht is set up with optional 1,136 hp Caterpillar C-18 diesels (985 hours), providing fuel-friendly hull speeds of 9 to 10 knots, with a cruising speed of 17 knots.

This long-range cruiser is built with a hand-laid FRP hull and PVC-core sandwich construction above the waterline. A vinylester barrier coat provides osmosis protection, while a simulated planked hull gives Smile Smile Smile an ageless aesthetic. The hull is reinforced with full-length longitudinal stringers and athwartship stringers for added structural integrity and backbone. Below the waterline, there are five coats of epoxy primer and two coats of antifouling paint. Molded rub rails with stainless-steel capping further enhance the yacht’s bluewater pedigree.

Reinforcing that last statement, about 10 percent of Outer Reef owners cruise to highly remote destinations, some have even voyaged around Cape Horn.

Onboard accommodations include four staterooms and five heads, with one cabin dedicated to crew. Although most owners are likely to be owner-operators.

The main deck provides a layout for entertaining and relaxation. The aft deck is teak and has built-in FRP bench seating and stowage beneath, as well as a sliding walnut table with stainless-steel bases for al fresco meals on the hook. A wet bar with a U-Line fridge makes for easy access to refreshments, reducing trips to the galley forward on the main deck.

A stairway from the aft deck leads to the flybridge, where a Rainier Glass enclosure provides protection from the elements, especially helpful when cruising during shoulder seasons and at cooler latitudes. The flybridge also accommodates a kayak rack and a stowage area for the included 14-foot AB DLX tender, which is powered by a 70 hp Yamaha outboard. The tender’s setup includes teak decking, a Fusion stereo, a Garmin navigation system with depth sounder, a VHF radio and custom deck stowage. Additional flybridge upgrades include a Sub-Zero clear ice maker and a movable chock system for securing a SeaDoo with tie-down pad eyes.

Other technical enhancements include two joystick remote controls for the FLIR thermal camera, LED courtesy and overhead lighting throughout the aft deck and Aqualuma underwater lighting. A Glendinning 100-amp Cablemaster with 100 feet of cable means convenient shore-power access, with an additional 50-amp shore power inlet available.
