The “e” in Ocean Alexander 70e stands for evolution. The motoryacht designed by Evan K. Marshall features an open interior layout and more modern lines with a nod to larger yachts and a European-style superstructure.
“But, lest you worry that Ocean Alexander has thrown the baby out with the bath water, this is still a classic OA in so many ways: solid construction, outstanding seakeeping abilities and thoughtful design,” Yachting previously wrote. “If your dad had an Ocean Alexander, he’ll still feel right at home.”
MarineMax has a 2017 Ocean Alexander 70e, The Three B’s, listed just shy of $2.4 million. The 70-foot flybridge motoryacht is owner-operator friendly, but if owners prefer to have a captain for the weekend sojourn, a crew quarters aft has a berth and a wet head. The Three B’s has a variety of social spaces, inside and out, and a four-stateroom layout that sleeps up to eight people.
On the inside, guests will find waist-to-ceiling windows running the length of the salon lounge area aft, flooding the space with natural light. An integrated TV lowers from the ceiling in case the big game is on. Seating includes a sofa to port and an L-shaped settee to starboard.
Forward and up a step the main-deck galley sits amidships to starboard. A wine cooler is tucked away underneath a staircase to port leading up to the flybridge. An L-shaped dinette with a folding table and two additional stools is forward of the galley to starboard, adjacent to the lower helm station. The galley is equipped with an array of stainless-steel appliances, including:
- Fisher Paykel double door refrigerator
- 30-inch Jenn-Air microwave
- Jenn-Air electric stove
- Whirlpool garbage disposal
- Jenn-Air electric convection oven
- Bosch dishwasher
- 15-inch Jenn-Air trash compactor
On the flybridge, a sun shade extends from the hardtop that covers the lounge area aft. Amidships, a bar is positioned to starboard underneath the hardtop while a grilling station sits to port. Forward, the dinette to starboard is abaft the upper helm station.
The foredeck is a multifunctional exterior entertainment area with a lounge pad forward of a dinette, in case guests want to catch some sun or enjoy cocktails at sunset. On the main deck aft, the transom bench seat and fixed table make a great spot to dine and enjoy alfresco views.
Belowdecks, the full-beam master is amidships with a king berth, cedar-lined stowage and an en suite head. In the bow, the forepeak VIP has a centerline berth and en suite head. The starboard guest cabin has over-under berths while the port guest cabin has side-by-side berths.
Twin 900 hp Volvo IPS 1200s give The Three B’s a 28- to 30-knot top hop and a 26-knot cruise speed. It’s worth noting the engines currently have 1,469 hours on them.
Some other notable features on board The Three B’s include:
- Twin Kohler 32kw generators
- Hydraulic swim platform
- 2021 Walker Bay Venture 14 tender
- Miele Washer and dryer combo
- Garmin VHF 200
