“Everything I saw walking through the Grand Banks 54 illustrates actual strength and serious intelligence in construction,” Yachting previously reported.
“The 54 is the kind of yacht that begs for a ride in the rough stuff, but unfortunately, I didn’t have challenging conditions when I ran it… Between its 8-degree transom deadrise, warped semidisplacement hull form, and Humphree interceptor and stabilizer system, the 54 cut through 2-footers with virtually zero effect. Paralleling other boat wakes and taking them on the beam produced a similar absence of any response.”
Grand Banks managed to blend long-range cruising with sporty performance, and a luxurious and accommodating interior on its GB54. The builder currently has a low-hour 2023 build listed for sale and is asking shy of $3.4 million.
Highpoint II is powered by twin 725 hp Volvo Penta D11 diesels, which come with extended warranties through April 2028 or 2,000 hours. With Grand Banks’ V-Warp hull technology, the GB54 cruises comfortably around 25 knots with a top speed of about 30 knots. At 10 knots, the yacht’s cruising range is approximately 1,000 nautical miles. Bow and stern thrusters, and the Humphree active-fin stabilization system enhance the ride and boathandling experience.
The salon has a warm and inviting interior, aided by neutral tones in the fabric and sisal carpet, teak and natural light from nearly 360 degrees of glass. L-shaped settees flank the aft lounge area, while the settee to port has a teak folding table in case guests want to dine inside or even play cards.
The helm station is forward and to starboard with a companion bench seat directly across, which has a built-in wine cooler underneath. There are two Stidd helm seats, a teak instrument panel and a Garmin electronics package.
The amidships galley is down and to port with features like Silestone countertops, teak cabinets with raised panels and soft-close drawers. Meal-prep amenities include:
- Miele 4-burner electric cooktop
- Miele DA1260 Exhaust (range hood)
- Miele Microwave/Convection oven
- Isotherm fridge/freezers
- Fisher Paykel dishwasher
Highpoint II has an en suite forepeak master stateroom with a centerline queen berth. The starboard guest stateroom has side-by-side berths and an en suite head.
On the flybridge, the helm station has the wheel on the centerline with two Stidd helm chairs. A low-profile, reverse-raked tinted windshield aids with sun glare. To port, an L-shaped settee sits abaft the helm with a fixed high-gloss teak table. A wet bar is to starboard. The after section of the flybridge is dedicated to the tender stowage and the davit. There’s also a grill station abaft the settee to port.
The cockpit has a wet bar forward and to port. There is also transom bench seating with a teak folding table, so pull up a few chairs and everyone on board can enjoy shaded alfresco dining.
Some other notable features on board Highpoint II include:
- Four 8617 radar / plotter
- GSD 25 fishfinder / sounder
- Garmin autopilot
- GMR Fantom 4-foot open array
- Custom ICOM M605 VHF
- AIS 800
- Garmin WiFi
