“Grand Banks Yachts has launched what I think is a bold new tradition with its 50 Eastbay SX, a vessel that ties well-received Eastbay models of the past to a more modern exterior look and top-notch technology under the hood,” Yachting wrote previously. “At first glance, this Downeast-style yacht’s optional navy-blue hull is quite familiar, as are her teak toe rail and 30-inch-high, stainless-steel safety rails that run from her teak cockpit up to the sun-pad-equipped foredeck.”
“But the more you look at her, the more you see why she’s different from earlier iterations of this line. It’s similar to staring up at a starry night sky: As your eyes focus, more stars appear in front of them.”
The Grand Banks Eastbay 50 SX replaced the builders 49 Eastbay in 2014 with a design it calls more rounded and forward-looking. Grand Banks Marine Group currently has Yeomalt, a 2014 Eastbay 50 SX, listed for $1.495 million.
“Embark on a journey of unparalleled luxury and performance with the 2014 Grand Banks 50 Eastbay SX in its prestigious series, originally designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates,” Grand Banks Marine Group says. “Crafted with meticulous attention to detail and equipped with cutting-edge features, this vessel promises an extraordinary yachting experience that redefines elegance and sophistication on the water.”
Yeomalt features the two-stateroom layout belowdecks, sleeping up to four people. Amidships to starboard, the master stateroom sits adjacent to the galley with an athwartships queen berth and an en suite head. The forepeak VIP has a centerline queen berth and an en suite head.
Power for the 50-footer is twin 700 hp Volvo IPS 900 D11 with pod drives, which give Yeomalt a 32-knot top hop and a 25- to 27-knot cruise speed. Cruising at 25 knots owners should expect a 409-nautical-mile range. The cockpit’s docking station makes getting on and off the docks a breeze.
If guests are looking to catch some sun, the foredeck has a two-person sun pad. When it’s time to eat, the cockpit is the perfect place to enjoy alfresco dining with the transom bench seat and fixed table.
Moving inside guests will find fixed sofas flanking the salon with the helm station forward to starboard. The interior has the optional teak and holly sole throughout, with teak veneer bulkheads and furniture with teak raised panels. Yeomalt has the optional galley-down layout with a U-shaped Caesarstone countertop and an array of meal-prep appliances including an electric burner cooktop, a microwave, a SubZero drawer-type fridge and freezer and a top-loading freezer.
