The Amels and Damen shipyards in Holland are reportedly on schedule for back-to-back deliveries of six new builds and five refit projects this spring.
So far, refits of the 241-foot Nobiskrug Dytan and the 214-foot Amels Ventum Maris, along with the new build 180-foot Amels Papa, have been completed at the main yard in Vlissingen and at a second yard in Vlissingen East.
During the next few weeks, five more new builds and three more refit projects are scheduled to finish.
“We’ve never been so busy,” Marketing Manager Victor Caminada stated in a press release. “We recently had six superyachts lining the quayside with five more inside and another two refit projects at our Vlissingen East yard. That is almost 1,000 meters [3,280 feet] of superyacht, and it doesn’t include the three yacht projects under construction at Damen Shipyards elsewhere in the Netherlands.”
About 1,500 people, including shipyard employees and yacht crew, have been on site at any given time.
“On the side of the building here, it says The Art of Yacht Building, and I think from the experience here for both myself and my crew, they should make room for The Art of Teamwork and The Art of Friendship, because I really believe they’ve mastered both,” the captain of Papa stated in the press release.
How much space is at the Vlissingen East yard? It includes a 650-foot-long building hall for yachts as well as the largest covered dry dock in the Netherlands, at 705 feet long.
