Galactica Super Nova
Heesen Yachts in The Netherlands has launched the 229-foot Galactica Super Nova, which previously was known as Project Kometa. She is the largest yacht Heesen has constructed to date and one of the fastest in her size range, with a top end that surpasses 30 knots.
Galactica Super Nova is built with the Fast Displacement Hull Form by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Her main engines are a pair of MTU 20V 4000 M93L diesels, and she has a third engine that powers a booster jet. With the twin MTUs, her top speed is 25.3 knots. With the booster jet engaged, the yacht blasts past 30 knots, according to Heesen.
Espen Øino handled exterior design, and Galactica Super Nova‘s interior is by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design. Tenders and toys (including a Quadski) are housed forward, where there is also a helipad that serves double duty as an outdoor cinema. Aft are a beach club at water level and a 3,566-gallon pool on the main deck, with jets for use as a spa or for contraflow swimming.
Accommodations are for 12 guests in six staterooms, including a main-deck master and a VIP on the bridge deck. The décor mixes a range of leathers, such as galuchat and calfskin, with natural stone such as calacatta luccicoso and onyx. A crystal elevator amidships is surrounded by sculptural elements of steel, nickel, chrome, wood and leather.
