It’s true. We adore them. Today’s yacht tenders are proper day boats unto themselves, purpose-built for everything from serious offshore fishing to family watersports to ­making a glamorous entrance when pulling up to the restaurant dock. These tenders are stylish, even when they’re packed with practical features, and they’re comfortable, even if tearing through the water at 60 to 80 knots. We want to collect these boats like fine wines and craft beers, appreciating each one for her unique characteristics and the way she leaves us feeling as the sun comes down.

Canados 428 Gladiator

Canados Yachts hasn’t launched a boat this small in 30 years, and Marco Casali, who’s drawn big boats for Canados as well as Benetti and ISA, designed the 428 Gladiator to have superyacht DNA. The outboard version is set to debut at the Fort Lauderdale ­International Boat Show, with 15 hull-color options.

Pardo 43

Cantieri del Pardo , which has 40 years of experience crafting boats in Italy, launched the Pardo Yachts brand in 2016. The Pardo 43 is the new ­midrange offering, falling between the 36 and the 52 in the builder’s lineup. Her composite hull is resin-infused fiberglass, and she comes standard with 370 hp Volvo Penta IPS500 engines. The 435 hp IPS600s are an option, as is a stabilizer system. Sunbathing areas are at the bow and at the stern, and, as you can see in the image above, dining is aft as well. Port and starboard sections of the hull in this after space fold out, allowing even more room for guests to move when the 43 is at anchor. An optional Bimini top can provide protection from the sun.

Ocean 1 360

Capt. Dean Maggio, who has been at the helm of the 170-foot Royal Huisman Meteor since 2007, created the 36-foot Ocean 1 as a super- yacht RIB with a tournament-fishing hull. He started building the tenders during summer 2016 in Sarasota, Florida, and two composite hulls have now been delivered.

MJM 35Z

Note the side-boarding doors to port and starboard in the cockpit of the MJM 35z: They’re designed to be at floating-dock height, making it easy for owner-operators to walk the length of the flush-deck design and tie up the nearly 38-foot-long boat without help from the crew. Also in the practicality column is the 35z’s range: She can go far, even when she’s going fast. With the optional 350 hp Mercury Verado outboards, the boat will reportedly cruise more than 350 miles at 38 knots. Verados rated at 300 hp are standard, as are joystick docking, GPS station-keeping and engine auto-trim. A Seakeeper 3 gyrostabilizer and a full-length Bimini top are optional for comfort on the hook in most any weather.

Cockwells Titian Tender

Cockwells is known for building some of the sexiest small boats in the United Kingdom, and its jet-drive Titian Tender combines that legacy with an exterior concept by superyacht designers ­Redman Whiteley Dixon. Cullum Bespoke, known for work in luxury automobiles, penned the 34-footer’s interior.

Technohull Omega 41

The Greek builder’s new flagship comes with inboard or outboard propulsion and can reportedly hit 69.5 knots (that’s not a typo) with triple Mercury Racing Verado 400 hp outboards and a twin-stepped hull. At a little more than 43 feet LOA, she has shockproof seats and can have solar panels mounted on her T-top. Head to the Technohull website to learn more.

Gulfstream 52

Hull No. 1 of the Gulfstream 52 is slated to be at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Her enclosure is heated and air conditioned, and belowdecks are a king-size berth, head and shower. Note the high gunwales for walkaround safety. Top speed is 56 knots with quad 627 hp Seven Marine outboards.

Mazu 38 Soft Top

The owner of Hull No. 1 wanted his Mazu 38 Soft Top to combine military styling with elegance and superyacht features. He’s also an Armani fan, so the boat’s interior includes textures, leathers and fabrics associated with the fashion house. Twin Volvo Penta IPS400s push the 38 to a top hop of 34 knots.

Ribcraft 9.0

Ribcraft ‘s reconfigured 9.0 has the same rough-and-ready hull design as her predecessor. On deck, the boat now has wraparound bow seating, a teak table that converts to a sun pad, a powder-coated T-top and a head. Synthetic teak decking is optional to look smart while hitting speeds above 52 knots.

Williams Sportjet 345

Williams positioned the helm at the center of its Sportjet 345 to leave the rest of the onboard space as flexible seating — and to allow for more guests than its similar-size Turbojet model. At 11 feet 3 inches, this boat can seat five people. Six color choices are available, as is custom upholstery.

Invictus 240CX

Christian Grande, known for his work on superyachts, designed this little sister to the Invictus 280CX. The 24-footer is meant for day cruises, with a foldout head and stowage belowdecks, an on-deck dining space aft and a foldaway Bimini top for sun protection at anchor. The 240CX can handle an outboard engine up to 250 hp.
