Tempus 90 sailing yacht
Tempus Fugit, which is Hull No. 1 of the Tempus 90 design, has been shaking up the Mediterranean regatta scene following her launch this past summer at the Arkin Pruva shipyard in Turkey. She’s not a racing yacht, per se, but that didn’t stop her from placing fifth in a 23-yacht IRC Class A field at Les Voiles de St. Tropez, a race that included modern carbon yachts from Swan, Baltic and Wally.
“We are thrilled that the first Tempus 90 has really delivered in terms of looks, quality, performance and handling qualities,” designer Rob Humphreys of Humphreys Yacht Design in the United Kingdom stated in a press release. “We were not looking forward to having to compete with the best of modern IRC racers, but we found that we could acquit ourselves really well against them, which is a huge endorsement for the Tempus Class.”
Humphreys is best known as the designer behind many successful Oyster sailing yacht designs, including the Oyster 625, which earned several awards for design in 2012. The Tempus 90 is his first in a range of classically inspired yachts that are built in wood and epoxy.
Tempus Fugit is expected to move to the Caribbean this winter, and plans are being considered for a cruise up the U.S. East Coast during summer 2014. Learn more at www.humphreysdesign.com or www.arkinpruva.com.
