Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg has cleared his calendar for this summer so that he can go cruising to some pretty awesome destinations around the world. Reports from various media say that he plans to take his 282-foot Oceanco Seven Seas to places that he first visited on movie shoots. That includes North Africa and Sri Lanka, where some Indiana Jones scenes were filmed, China, where he was on location for Empire of the Sun, and Hawaii, where he brought to life the dinosaur scenes in_ Jurassic Park_.

The cruise is expected to begin sometime after Spielberg’s appearance at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, which itself is a magnet for the world’s most impressive superyachts each spring.

Seven Seas was delivered in late 2010. The yacht immediately began chartering at a whopping weekly base rate of $1 million per week for 12 guests in the Caribbean, making it one of the most expensive charter yachts available anywhere in the world.

Seven Seas includes an entire private owner’s deck with a pool, two separate VIP suites, and four guest staterooms on the main deck with large windows and outstanding outdoor views. Also onboard are a cinema (which is no doubt state of the art), a gymnasium, a spa, and a massage room.

Spielberg also ordered two custom tenders, a 34-foot limousine tender and a 30-foot open sport boat. Hopefully the crew of 23 will keep him apprised of regulations for tender use in the destinations he’s planning to visit; back in summer 2011, he and actress Gwyneth Paltrow had beachgoers on Sardinia calling the Italian Coast Guard after they buzzed too close to shore in violation of Italian law. Spielberg paid a €172 fine and signed autographs on the beach to defuse the situation.
